Ingredients

For the Salmon

  • 4 salmon fillets about 6 ounces each
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Honey Garlic Sauce

  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 4 garlic cloves minced
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 2 teaspoons water
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley plus extra for garnish

Equipment

  • Large Non-Stick Skillet or Cast Iron Skillet
  • Small Mixing Bowl
  • Whisk
  • Measuring Cups & Spoons
  • Fish Spatula
  • Knife
  • Cutting board

Method

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, and lemon juice. In another small bowl, mix the cornstarch with water until smooth. Set both mixtures aside.
  2. Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt and black pepper.
  3. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Place the salmon skin-side down if using skin-on fillets. Cook for 4–5 minutes without moving the fish, then carefully flip and cook for another 3–4 minutes. Transfer the salmon to a plate.
  4. Reduce the heat to medium. Melt the butter in the same skillet, then add the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Pour the honey mixture into the skillet and stir well. Whisk in the cornstarch slurry and cook for 2–3 minutes until the glaze thickens.
  6. Return the salmon to the skillet and spoon the glaze over each fillet. Cook for another 1–2 minutes until the salmon reaches an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C) and flakes easily with a fork.
  7. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve immediately with rice, roasted vegetables, or mashed potatoes.

Notes

  • Pat the salmon dry before cooking for the best golden crust.
  • Fresh garlic provides the best flavor.
  • Use low-sodium soy sauce to keep the glaze balanced.
  • Avoid overcooking the salmon to keep it moist and flaky.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
