- Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels and season both sides with salt and black pepper.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Arrange the shrimp in a single layer and cook for 1½–2 minutes per side, or until they turn pink and opaque.
- Transfer the shrimp to a plate.
- Reduce the heat to medium.
- Add the butter to the same skillet.
- Once melted, stir in the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds, stirring constantly until fragrant.
- Add the lemon juice, lemon zest (if using), and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir to combine.
- Return the shrimp to the skillet and gently toss until evenly coated in the garlic butter sauce.
- Sprinkle with fresh parsley and serve immediately.
